Who We Are

The Fannin County Soil and Water Conservation District was organized on June 29, 1940 as a legal subdivision of the Texas State government. The district is governed by a five member board of directors, who are landowners in Fannin County. The county is divided into 5 zones with one director elected from each zone. They are elected by the landowners of Fannin County and serve a four year term. The board meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. at 200 East First Street, Bonham, TX.

Board of Directors:

Front left to right:
Ronny Hart - Vice Chairman, Billy Partridge - Chairman, Derrell Hall - Member, Phil Haley - Member
Harvey Milton, Secretary/Treasurer (seated)

The district under state law does not have the power to levy taxes. The district is supported by funds raised through various fundraising projects and with local donations and grants. A portion of these funds are then matched by the State.

The USDA-NRCS provides technical assistance to the district and landowners of Fannin County to help solve resource management problems. Information and assistance with soils, agronomy, forestry, plant science, biology, engineering and wetland development are just a few of the services that are provided.
